Zoe and the Booming Storm
Zoe was a bright little girl with bouncy brown curls and a big smile. Her favourite place was her cosy home, especially on a sunny afternoon when she could play with her teddy, Barnaby. "Let's build a super-duper castle, Barnaby!" she'd giggle, stacking colourful blocks high.
But today, the sky began to change. Fluffy white clouds turned a grumpy grey. A whooshing wind danced outside, making the trees sway like sleepy giants. Then, a low rumble started far away. "What's that, Mum?" Zoe asked, her eyes wide.
Suddenly, a huge BOOM! rocked the house. The windows rattled! Zoe jumped, clutching Barnaby tight. Her heart thumped like a drum. "It's so loud, Mum! I don't like it!" she whispered, hiding her face. Mum hugged her close. "That's thunder, darling. It's just the sound of the clouds bumping together in the sky. It's very loud, but we are safe inside our strong home," Mum explained, her voice calm and steady. "Are you brave enough to watch with me from the window?"
Zoe peeked from behind Mum's arm. Another big BOOM! but this time, it sounded a little less scary. "The clouds are having a big rumble!" she said, a tiny smile appearing. Mum showed her how the lightning flashed first, then the thunder followed. "See? The sky is just putting on a big light and sound show. And guess what? It helps water the thirsty plants outside," Mum said, pointing to the rain now gently pattering against the windowpane.
Soon, the rumbling became softer, and the rain slowed to a whisper. Zoe, holding Barnaby, felt a warm, brave feeling in her chest. She wasn't scared anymore. "The storm is going away, Barnaby," she told her teddy, feeling like a little weather expert. "And we were brave, weren't we? Safe and sound in our cosy home." The sun began to peek through the clouds, painting a beautiful rainbow arch across the sky, a lovely end to their big storm adventure.
