The Three Little Pigs at the Playground

“G’day, everyone!” chirped Percy Pig, bouncing a colourful ball. He was at the local playground with his sister, Penny, and little brother, Peter. They absolutely loved to imagine and build, turning everyday playground bits into amazing new worlds. Today, they were planning to build the best cubby house ever!

“Oink, oink! Look at our grand design!” squealed Penny, arranging some light, dry leaves and small twigs. Peter stacked a few wobbly plastic cups. But just then, a shadow fell over them. It was Wally Wolf, looking a bit grumbly. “I love a good build,” he growled, “but I love huffing and puffing even more!”

Wally Wolf took a deep breath. “Then I’ll huff, and I’ll puff, and I’ll blow your cubby down!” he roared, and WHOOSH! The dry leaves scattered, the twigs tumbled, and the plastic cups went flying. Percy, Penny, and Peter stared at their messy pile. Their quick, leafy cubby was gone in a flash! “Oh dear,” sighed Peter.

“Right then, let’s try again, mates!” declared Percy, ever the optimist. This time, they gathered bigger sticks and some old cardboard boxes from a recycling bin nearby. They worked quickly, taping and propping, hoping their new cubby would be stronger. They thought their creative idea was clever, but Wally Wolf was already taking another big breath.

“I’ll huff, and I’ll puff, and I’ll blow your cubby down!” Wally boomed, and WHOOSH! WHOOSH! The cardboard shivered, the sticks cracked, and the whole thing collapsed with a soft thud. The three pigs felt a little bit deflated. “That didn’t work either,” whispered Penny, rubbing her snout.

Percy, Penny, and Peter huddled together. “We’re smart pigs,” Percy remembered. “And creative!” added Penny. “We need something super-duper strong!” Peter exclaimed. They looked around the playground. Big, sturdy wooden logs for climbing! Thick, colourful plastic blocks! Even the heavy, curved tunnel slide! “Aha!” they squealed, a brilliant idea sparking in their clever little minds.

Working together, they rolled the big logs into a solid base. They carefully stacked the heavy plastic blocks, fitting them snugly. They even used the entrance to the tunnel slide as a special “secret door”! It took a long time, and they used all their smarts, but their new fort was magnificent – strong, colourful, and perfectly built.

Wally Wolf returned, ready for his usual huffing and puffing. “Alright, little pigs! I’ll huff, and I’ll puff, and I’ll BLOW YOUR FORT DOWN!” he shouted. He took the biggest breath ever and WHOOOOOOSH! He blew and he blew with all his might!

But the fort didn’t budge. Not one bit! The logs stayed put, the blocks held firm, and the tunnel slide chuckled softly. Wally Wolf tried again, turning red in the face, but it was no good. He huffed until he was dizzy, and then sat down, completely worn out. “Well, I’ll be,” he panted, “that’s one strong fort!”

Percy, Penny, and Peter cheered! Their creative, carefully built fort had saved the day! Wally Wolf, realising he couldn’t huff it down, eventually joined them inside for a rest, admiring their clever work. They learned that day that taking your time and building with care always makes the strongest, best fun!
