The Sparkling Sea-Grapes
My name is Flora, and I live where the water is always crystal blue and the sand feels like soft sugar between my toes. My best friend Maya and I spend our days swimming through giant kelp forests and playing tag with the local sea turtles. Today, the ocean felt extra quiet, and the sunlight danced through the waves in long, golden ribbons as we explored a hidden corner of the reef.
'Look at these, Flora!' Maya shouted, her voice bubbling through the water as she pointed toward a glowing crevice. She was always the curious one, poking her nose into every shell and cave we found. She held out a cluster of bright purple, wiggly bubbles that grew on a silver vine, looking nothing like the familiar sea-bread or salty greens we usually ate for lunch.
I pulled back, my heart thumping against my chest like a trapped little fish. The purple bubbles looked strange and bumpy, and I wasn't sure I wanted to touch them, let alone taste them. 'I don't know, Maya,' I whispered, watching a bubble wobble and shimmer in the current. My stomach did a little flip-flop because they looked so different and unknown.
Maya took a tiny bite and her eyes went wide with pure joy, so I took a deep breath and gathered my inner strength. I popped one bubble into my mouth, and suddenly, a burst of sweet honey and tangy lime exploded on my tongue. My skin began to shimmer with a soft, pink light as the delicious flavor filled me with warmth and a wonderful, tingly surprise.
We spent the rest of the afternoon snacking on the magical sea-grapes, our laughter echoing through the colorful coral. I realized that just because something looks different at first doesn't mean it's scary or bad. Now, whenever we find something new in our underwater world, I remember the sweet, popping bubbles and feel excited to try a brand new adventure.
