The Grumpiest Gummy Bear in Candy Land
Lara and Fernando skipped through fields of peppermint grass, their laughter echoing like tinkling candy bells. They lived in Candy Land, where rivers flowed with creamy chocolate and fluffy marshmallow clouds drifted in a lemon-sherbet sky. They loved their home, especially trying new things, like licking the giant rainbow lollipops that grew like trees and taking brave sips from the fizzy soda pop streams. "Sweet treats and happy feet!" they cheered, hand in hand.
One afternoon, while exploring past the Gumdrop Mountains, they found something unusual. Sitting on a licorice log was the grumpiest, greyest Gummy Bear they had ever seen. He wasn't shiny or colorful at all. "What's wrong?" Lara asked gently. The Gummy Bear sighed, a sound like stale sugar. "I've lost my flavor," he grumbled. "No one ever says thank you for my sweetness, so it just... disappeared."
"We can fix that!" Fernando declared bravely. Loving new things, he remembered the super-sour, fizz-banging pop rocks they had found. "This will give you a jolt of flavor!" He poured the crackling candy into the Gummy Bear's hand. But after one tiny taste, the Gummy Bear just looked even more miserable. The candy fizzed out, leaving him just as grey as before. Lara and Fernando felt a pinch of frustration; their best idea hadn't worked at all.
Watching the sad, grey bear, Lara suddenly understood. It wasn't about a *new* taste. She turned to the chocolate river and said, "Thank you, river, for being so warm and delicious." Fernando joined in, "Thank you, marshmallow clouds, for being so soft to bounce on!" They turned to the Gummy Bear, taking his hands. "And thank you," they said together, "for being our friend, even when you're feeling grey." A warm glow started at the Gummy Bear's feet, and with a POP, brilliant, shimmering red color rushed all the way to his ears!
The Gummy Bear, now a brilliant cherry red, bounced to his feet, tasting his own sweet flavor again. "Wow! Thank you!" he beamed. Lara and Fernando realized that sharing gratitude was the most powerful treat of all. It didn't just bring back the Gummy Bear's color; it made all of Candy Land seem brighter and sweeter than ever before. Hand in hand with their new friend, they skipped back toward home, cheering, "Grateful hearts and sweet new starts!"
