Lucas and the Brave Hello
Lucas was five years old and loved sunny days. His favorite place was the big green park with the tall, swirly slide and a sandy sandbox perfect for digging. Today, he was busy building the tallest sandcastle ever, his bright red bucket overflowing with golden sand.
Suddenly, a new friend arrived at the park. This child had curly brown hair and was holding a blue shovel, looking a little bit shy. Lucas watched as the new kid walked towards the sandbox, slowly, and then stopped near the swings, peeking over at Lucasās big sandcastle.
Lucas felt a tiny flutter in his tummy. He really wanted to say hello, but a small, quiet voice inside him whispered, "What if they don't want to play?" Then, Lucas remembered. He was Lucas, and Lucas was brave! Brave Lucas always tried new things.
Taking a deep breath, Lucas bravely picked up a smooth, shiny pebble. He walked over to the new kid and held out the pebble, "Hello! My name is Lucas. I'm building a super tall castle. Do you like castles?" The new friend looked surprised, then a shy smile peeked out.
"Hi, Lucas," the new friend whispered, "I'm Lily. I love castles too! Yours looks amazing." Lily held her blue shovel a little tighter, but her smile grew a little wider. Lucas smiled back, feeling happy that he had been brave enough to say hello.
Soon, Lucas and Lily were busy building together. Lucas dug a moat, and Lily added shiny seashell decorations. They giggled as the wind tried to blow their flags down, and they cheered when their sandcastle stood tall and strong against the playful breeze.
"Let's make a tunnel!" Lily suggested, pointing with her blue shovel. "Yes!" Lucas agreed, grabbing his red bucket. Digging, laughing, and sharing their sand toys, the shyness had completely disappeared, replaced by happy shouts and sandy hands.
When the sun started to dip low, painting the sky orange and pink, Lucas and Lily knew it was time to go home. "Will you be here tomorrow, Lucas?" Lily asked, her eyes sparkling. "Yes!" Lucas promised, "And we can build an even bigger castle!"
Lucas walked home with a big smile. He had been brave and made a wonderful new friend. He learned that sometimes, all it takes is a brave hello to turn a shy moment into a day full of fun and laughter. Making new friends felt truly special.
