Lola's Rainbow Rope

Lola the rabbit hopped into Sunny Meadow Preschool with a big smile on her face. In her paws, she carried her most special treasure: a shimmering, rainbow-colored jump rope that sparkled like a million tiny stars in the morning sun. Her long, soft grey ears twitched with joy as she found a sunny spot on the playground. Lola was a very kind rabbit, and she couldn't wait to see her friends and start the day.

Suddenly, Benny the Bear and Pippa the Pig ran over to Lola. 'I want to use the rainbow rope first!' Benny shouted, reaching out with his big paws. 'No, I should get it because I got here second!' Pippa cried, grabbing the other end. They both pulled and tugged, and the beautiful rope was stretched tight between them. The happy sounds of the playground were replaced by the grumpy noise of their arguing.

Lola saw her friends' sad, angry faces and knew she had to help. She gently stepped forward and placed her soft paws over theirs. 'Wait, friends,' she said with a kind and steady voice. 'The rope is for jumping, not for pulling. If we fight, no one gets to have fun. Let's make a fair plan so we can all enjoy the rainbow together!' She spoke so sweetly that Benny and Pippa stopped shouting and looked at her.

'Benny, you jump for ten counts while Pippa and I sing the counting song,' Lola suggested. 'Then, Pippa jumps for ten while Benny and I sing. We can keep switching until the school bell rings!' Benny and Pippa thought this was a wonderful idea. Soon, the air was filled with the rhythmic 'swish-swish' of the rope and the happy voices of friends counting together: 'One, two, three, four!'

By the time the teacher called everyone inside, Lola, Benny, and Pippa were all giggling and out of breath. Taking turns had made the game much more exciting than fighting ever could. Lola felt a warm, fuzzy glow in her chest, knowing her kindness had turned a grumpy morning into a magical one. She tucked her rainbow rope safely away, ready for more shared adventures tomorrow.
