Leon and the Golden Leaves
The sun was a warm hug on the playground as five-year-old Leon skipped toward the big oak tree. He had a very important job to do for school: find five bright, golden leaves and put them in his special green bag. The air smelled like fresh grass and sweet clover, making Leon's nose wiggle with excitement as he looked at the ground.
Just as Leon spotted his first leaf, he heard a loud 'Whoosh!' It was the big blue slide. 'Leon, come play!' his friends called out. Leon looked at his empty bag and then at the tall, shiny slide. 'I will find my leaves later,' Leon thought with a grin. He dropped his bag and ran to the ladder, feeling the cool metal rungs under his hands.
The afternoon flew by like a bird. Leon played tag, swung high until his toes touched the sky, and built a giant sandcastle. Every time he saw his green bag sitting lonely in the grass, he said, 'Just five more minutes of fun!' But soon, the sun began to hide behind the trees, and his mom said it was time to go home. Leon realized his bag was still empty.
The next morning, Leon's tummy felt fluttery like a trapped butterfly. In class, everyone showed their beautiful golden leaves, but Leon had nothing to show. He felt sad and stressed because he had chosen play over his work. Using his inner strength, Leon stood up and told his teacher the truth. 'I played too much and forgot my leaves,' he whispered bravely.
His teacher smiled kindly and helped him collect leaves during the first break while the others played. Leon worked hard until his bag was full. Once he was finished, he finally joined his friends with a happy, light heart. He learned that doing his work first made the playtime feel even better. From then on, Leon always finished his tasks before heading to the slide.
