James and the Wobbly Waves
James loved the beach more than anything! The warm, soft sand felt like a giant hug under his bare feet, and colourful shells sparkled like tiny jewels. He spent his mornings building magnificent sandcastles, tall and strong, ready for any pretend sea monster. James was a brave little fella, always ready for an adventure.
Today, a big, shimmering ocean stretched out before him, calling his name with a gentle, bubbly 'whoosh.' Other kids were splashing and giggling, their laughter echoing like happy bells. James took a step closer, feeling the cool, wet sand squish between his toes, but then he stopped. The water looked so big, so deep, and a tiny shiver wiggled down his spine.
He remembered all the fun he usually had, but today, a little voice whispered, "What if it's too cold? What if a wave is too big?" His brave heart felt a little wobbly. James tried poking his toe in, then pulling it back quickly, like a crab scuttling away. The water looked inviting, but his feet just wouldn't move forward!
Then, he thought of his amazing sandcastles, built with courage and a can-do spirit. "I built those!" he whispered to himself. "I can be brave like that!" Taking a deep breath, James closed his eyes for just a second, then, with a mighty 'WHOOSH!', he took a big, brave leap! The water embraced him, cool and refreshing, not scary at all!
A huge smile spread across his face as he splashed and kicked, feeling the playful waves tickle his tummy. The water was absolutely wonderful! James realised that sometimes, the scariest part of an adventure was just imagining it. Once you took that brave leap, the fun always began! He swam and played until the sun dipped low, a truly courageous beach champion.
