Hannah was a girl who loved big adventures. Her favourite thing to do was play outside in her sunny backyard, spotting the tiniest ladybugs on green leaves and finding fluffy cloud-shapes with her Dad. 'Look, Dad! A bunny!' she'd shout, and everyone knew Hannah had the sharpest eyes and the bravest heart.

One afternoon, Dad knelt down and said, 'Today we have a special adventure, Hannah-Roo. We're going for a vision test, just to check on your super sharp eyes.' Hannah's happy feeling did a little wobble. A 'test' sounded a lot like something you do at school, and not like a fun adventure at all. Her tummy felt a bit like wobbly jelly.

The optometrist’s office was full of bright lights and funny posters of animals wearing glasses. In the middle of the room was a big, puffy chair that could move up and down, and a strange machine with lots of lenses. Hannah’s brave heart felt suddenly small and she tucked herself behind Dad’s legs. 'My tummy is doing the wibble-wobbles,' she whispered. 'I don’t think I want to do this.'

Dad gave her hand a gentle squeeze. 'No worries, sweetie. Watch me.' Hannah peeked out as Dad sat in the big chair and looked into the machine. 'A... P... a little house!' he said, and laughed. It looked just like a game! Taking a big, brave breath, Hannah marched over. 'My turn!' she announced. She hopped onto the chair, and when it was her turn to look, she called out the letters and shapes perfectly.

The optometrist clapped her hands softly. 'Wonderful, Hannah! Your eyes are as healthy as can be. You don't need glasses at all!' she said with a big smile. On the way out, Dad handed her a bar of chocolate. 'For being so incredibly brave,' he said, giving her a huge hug. Hannah munched on her treat, the chocolate melting in her mouth. It really was a good day, and she felt prouder and braver than ever.
