Hannah the Hat Detective
Hannah’s kindy was buzzing like a happy bee! Colourful streamers zig-zagged across the ceiling, and the air smelled like yummy party pies. Today was a very special day – it was Kindy Graduation! Hannah skipped around the playground with her best friends, Zoe, Oisum, and Mateo. They loved building wobbly towers with giant blocks, and Hannah was the best at figuring out how to stop them from toppling over.
After a big song and dance, it was time for the graduation hats! Their teacher, Mrs. Gable, brought out a big box. Inside were sparkly, colourful hats, one for each of them! But oh no! In all the excitement, the hats had tumbled together in the box. A big, jumbled pile of glittery colour. Zoe's hat was gone, Mateo's was missing, and Oisum couldn't find his anywhere. "Our special hats are all mixed up!" wailed Oisum.
Hannah, always ready to solve a puzzle, said, "Don't worry! I'll fix it." She quickly grabbed a blue hat for Zoe and a green one for Mateo. "Is this yours?" she asked. Zoe shook her head. "Mine had a swirly-whirly sticker." Mateo frowned. "Mine had a big yellow star." They all looked at the wrong hats on their heads, and their happy graduation smiles started to wobble. "Oh, dear! Wrong hat, wrong hat!" they mumbled sadly.
Hannah scrunched up her nose and thought really, really hard. Her problem-solving brain started to whir. "Wait a minute!" she chirped. "I remember!" She carefully picked up a blue hat. "Zoe, you drew a swirly-whirly sun on yours!" She handed it to Zoe, who grinned. Next, she found a green hat with a big, shiny sticker. "Mateo, you love stars!" And for Oisum, she found the red hat that had a tiny dinosaur drawing hidden near the top. "Your favourite!" she exclaimed. One by one, she found the perfect, special hat for each of her friends.
With the right sparkly hats on their heads, everyone cheered! "Hooray for Hannah!" shouted Mateo. They marched proudly across the room, feeling very grown up and very special. The rest of the day was filled with laughter, games, and delicious graduation cake. Hannah felt a happy warmth inside. Solving a problem was fun, but seeing her friends smile was the best prize of all.
