Hannah and the Big School Adventure
Hannah was a little explorer at Sunnydale School, always ready to ask "Why?" and "What's that?". Her bright, curious eyes loved finding new things in the playground. Today, the end-of-year feeling was buzzing, like a busy bee. "Only two more sleeps till summer holidays!" she'd heard her teacher Miss Lily say, but Hannah had something even bigger on her mind: next year, she was off to 'Big School'.
During playtime, Hannah watched the big kids on the oval. They were running so fast, yelling so loud! One of them accidentally dropped a 'Big School' textbook. It looked enormous, full of tiny words and complicated pictures. A shiver ran down Hannah's spine. "Big School" suddenly felt less like an exciting adventure and more like a giant, mysterious mountain she had to climb.
Hannah, being Hannah, decided to explore. She tiptoed towards the big kids' classroom, peeking through the door. It was so quiet, with big desks and a huge blackboard that reached the ceiling! It looked very serious. She tried to ask her friend, Liam, about it. "Is Big School super hard?" she whispered. Liam just shrugged, busy building a sandcastle. Hannah felt a little bit lost and a lot bit worried. Her tummy did a tiny flip-flop.
Just then, Miss Lily walked by, smiling. She noticed Hannah's worried face. "Thinking about Big School, are we, Hannah?" she asked gently. Hannah nodded. "It looks so… big and serious!" Miss Lily knelt down. "Big School is a big adventure, full of new friends and amazing things to learn," she said warmly. "It's okay to feel excited AND a little bit wobbly. Everyone does!" She pointed to a drawing on the wall. "See? This is a map of the new playground! You'll be exploring so many new places." Hannah looked at the colourful map, her eyes brightening. A new playground to explore? That sounded just like her!
Hannah skipped back to the playground, her worries replaced by a happy bounce. Big School was still big, but now it felt like a friendly big, waiting for her to discover all its secrets. She smiled, ready for new adventures and all the questions she was going to ask. Next year, Big School would be a grand exploration, and Hannah, the little explorer, couldn't wait!
