Flora and the Shimmering Prism Pouch
Deep beneath the sparkling turquoise waves, a young mermaid named Flora lived among the swaying sea anemones and glowing coral. One morning, she found a treasure stuck in a bed of soft sand: a Prism Pouch that shimmered with every color of the rainbow. It was the most beautiful thing she had ever seen, and its surface felt as smooth as a polished pebble.
Her little brother, Pip, swam over with wide eyes, his yellow tail swishing excitedly. "Can I see it, Flora? Please?" he asked, reaching out a small hand. Flora pulled the pouch close to her chest, feeling a tight knot in her stomach. "No, Pip! It is mine, and you might lose it or get it dirty," she said, swimming quickly toward the hidden kelp forest.
Suddenly, a powerful underwater current swept through the reef, tugging at the seaweed and pulling Pip toward a dark, swirling cavern. "Flora, help!" Pip cried out as he struggled against the force of the water. Flora looked at her beautiful pouch and then at her brother; she knew the pouch's bright glow could light the way through the dark current, but it might get bumped against the sharp rocks.
Flora gripped the strap of her pouch and dove into the current, holding the glowing bag high like a lantern. The rainbow light pierced through the gloom, guiding Pip safely back to the calm waters of the reef. As they reached safety, Flora saw a small scratch on the side of her new bag, but when she looked at Pip's relieved face, she realized the scratch didn't matter at all.
Flora smiled and held the Prism Pouch out toward her brother. "Here, Pip, let's carry it together," she said softly. As they both held onto the shimmering bag, the colors seemed to glow even brighter than before. Flora learned that her treasures were special, but sharing them with the people she loved was the most colorful magic of all.
