Ares and the Garden Friend
Ares loved his garden. It was a place full of magic, where colorful butterflies danced and tiny ladybugs explored big green leaves. Ten-year-old Ares often spent his afternoons there, sketching all the wonders he found. He had a kind heart and a quiet way of observing the world.
One sunny Tuesday, a moving truck rumbled down the street. A new family was moving in next door! Ares peeked from behind his favorite rose bush and saw a new kid, about his age, stepping into their garden. The new kid carried a small, colorful bucket and a tiny trowel, ready for garden adventures. Ares felt a flutter in his tummy; he wanted to say hello, but a shy whisper told him to wait.
The new kid knelt near a patch of bright red petunias, carefully examining a beetle. Ares saw a tiny sketchbook tucked into their pocket, just like his! His kind heart won over his shyness. He took a deep breath, walked a little closer, and held up a particularly beautiful blue flower he had just drawn. 'Hello,' Ares whispered, offering a gentle smile. The new kid looked up, eyes wide, and offered a shy, nervous smile back.
The new kid, whose name was Leo, pointed to Ares's drawing. 'You like drawing flowers too?' Leo asked softly. Ares nodded enthusiastically. 'Yes! And bugs! I saw you looking at that beetle.' Slowly, their nervous smiles turned into small giggles. They showed each other their drawings and talked about the best spots to find shiny pebbles. The shyness melted away like morning dew.
Soon, Ares and Leo weren't just talking; they were laughing! They shared stories about their favorite garden creatures and even started building a tiny fairy house together under the big oak tree. It felt as if they had been friends forever. Ares knew that sometimes, all it took was a little kindness to find the best adventures and make a wonderful new friend right next door. They promised to play in the garden again tomorrow.
