Allan and the Whispering Shadows

In the heart of a grand, sparkling castle, lived Allan, a clever little boy with a knack for solving every riddle and puzzle. His favourite spot was the castle library, where talking books whispered tales and friendly dragons snoozed by the fireplace. Allan loved tinkering with the mechanical hummingbirds that flitted between the shelves, making sure all their colourful gears spun just right.

One sunny afternoon, Allan heard a tiny, worried buzz. It was Glindy, a glow-worm friend who lit up the books for story time! “Oh, Allan!” chirped Glindy, her tiny light flickering with fright. “I was zipping around the castle’s West Wing, and I accidentally flew into the Old Storeroom! It’s ever so dark in there, and my light is too dim to find my way out! The Storyteller needs me for tonight’s tales!”

Allan knew he had to help. He bravely stepped into the Old Storeroom. It was much darker than he expected! Every shadow seemed to stretch and dance. A tall, pointy shadow looked like a grumpy giant, and a fluffy one resembled a big, scary monster! Allan tried to follow Glindy's faint buzz, but his heart thumped, thump, thump, like a drum. He tried to remember the room's layout, but the darkness twisted everything, making him feel a shiver of fear.

Suddenly, Allan remembered his friend Sparky the dragon’s words: “Even a tiny flame can light the way, Allan!” He realised he didn’t need a big light; he needed a smart way to find Glindy. Allan closed his eyes for a moment, listening very, very carefully. He heard Glindy's faint, hopeful buzz coming from behind a stack of old, dusty chests! He then used his hands to gently feel his way, step by careful step, towards the sound, solving the 'darkness puzzle' with his ears and touch!

Allan carefully reached the chests and found Glindy, her light beaming with relief! They emerged from the dark storeroom, greeted by cheers from the friendly dragons and talking animals. Allan felt a warm glow spread through him, not just from Glindy’s light, but from knowing he was brave and clever enough to face the dark. He wasn't scared of shadows anymore; he knew they were just shapes playing tricks!
