Test and the Happy Hopper
In a sunny garden, filled with buzzing bees and bright red poppies, lived a kind child named Test. Test loved their garden, but even more, they loved their fluffy pet rabbit, Pip. Pip had soft, white fur and twitchy pink nose, and he loved to hop around the green grass, wiggling his little tail.
Every morning, Test would rush outside to give Pip fresh water and crunchy carrots. It was a very important job! Test would gently stroke Pip's soft fur while he munched his breakfast, feeling so happy to care for their special friend. Pip would thump his back foot softly, a happy sound that made Test giggle.
But sometimes, when Test was busy playing with shiny pebbles or chasing butterflies, they would forget. "Test, did you remember Pip?" a grown-up would gently ask. Test's kind heart would feel a little pang, and they would quickly run to make sure Pip was okay, whispering sorry to the little rabbit.
One sunny afternoon, Test was building the most amazing sandcastle near the rose bushes. Turrets and flags! It was so much fun. The sun was getting lower, and Pip's tummy was rumbling, but Test was completely lost in play. Pip sat by his empty food bowl, looking a little bit sad.
Suddenly, Test heard a tiny, soft thump-thump from Pip's hutch. It wasn't a happy thump. Test paused their sandcastle building. They looked at Pip, whose ears were drooped just a little. Test remembered the gentle reminders they usually got, but this time, no one was there to say anything.
Test's kind heart gave a little squeeze. "Pip!" they gasped. "I forgot all about your dinner!" Test dropped their shovel and quickly ran to the kitchen. They carefully filled Pip's water bottle and found the biggest, juiciest carrot from the fridge. Test knew it was their job to remember, all by themselves.
Test rushed back outside and placed the fresh water and carrot in Pip's hutch. Pip wiggled his nose happily, instantly nibbling on the crunchy treat. Test gently stroked his head, feeling the soft fur under their fingers. Pip looked up, his big brown eyes bright with gratitude.
From that day on, something wonderful happened. Test didn't need reminders anymore! Every morning, they remembered Pip's breakfast. Every afternoon, they remembered his fresh water and tasty greens. Test's kind heart helped them remember, because they truly cared for their little friend.
Test and Pip played happily in the garden every day. The chores became easy because remembering was a kindness. Test knew that being responsible for Pip made their bond even stronger and filled their garden, and their heart, with so much love and happiness.
