Leo and the Booming Storm
Little Leo loved playing in his sunny garden. He was a curious boy, always peeking under leaves and watching busy ladybugs crawl along the fence. Today, he was building a tall tower with his colourful blocks, giggling as he stacked them higher and higher.
The garden was his favourite place, full of bright red flowers and buzzing yellow bees. 'Bzzzz,' Leo would say, pretending to fly like a bee. He loved exploring every tiny corner, always wondering what he might find next.
But slowly, something began to change. The bright sunshine started to hide behind fluffy, dark clouds that floated across the big blue sky. The air grew a little cooler, and the leaves on the trees began to dance and whisper, 'Whoosh, whoosh!'
Leo stopped building his tower and looked up, his curious eyes wide. 'What's that, Mummy?' he asked, pointing to the sky. Then, a low, rumbling sound echoed far, far away. It sounded like a giant sleepy bear having a big stretch.
Suddenly, the sky grew very, very grey, and then... 'BOOM!' A loud, booming sound made Leo jump! The thunder shook the house and made his tummy feel a bit wobbly. 'Boom! Boom!' it went again, even louder this time. Leo felt a little bit frightened.
He ran quickly to his Mum, who scooped him up in a big, warm hug. 'It's okay, my brave boy,' she whispered softly. 'That's just the thunder, a big, noisy part of a storm. We are safe and sound inside our cosy home.'
Leo cuddled close to Mum, watching the rain start to pitter-patter on the windowpane. 'Pitter-patter, pitter-patter,' it sang. The big 'BOOM!' sounds grew softer and further away now. 'The rain is giving our garden a big drink,' Mum explained, pointing outside.
Leo looked out, still curious, at the raindrops rolling down the window like tiny race cars. The loud booming sounds weren't as scary now that he knew what they were. He felt warm and safe, listening to the rain's gentle song.
Soon, the rain slowed, and then... it stopped! A little peek of sunshine popped through the clouds, and look! A beautiful, colourful rainbow stretched across the sky. 'Wow!' Leo gasped, his eyes shining with wonder.
The storm had been loud and a little bit scary, but Leo knew he was safe inside. And now, the garden looked fresh and sparkly, ready for more curious explorations. What new puddles could he splash in? What new treasures would the rain have washed up?
